TL;DR — We put Quince’s European Linen Sheet Set in Charcoal Chambray on our bed. Queen with the flat sheet is $144. 100% European flax, 150 GSM, pre-washed. These are not bamboo, not Cozy Earth, and not hotel sateen. Buy them if you want linen that looks lived-in. Skip them if wrinkles make you nuts. Wash notes come after more laundry — we will not fake a six-month test.

The set on our bed
We already reviewed Quince pants and Brooklinen cotton. The sheets in the linen closet now are the European Linen Sheet Set in Charcoal Chambray, with the flat sheet. That is the SKU this page is about.
Bamboo viscose is silky. Linen is slubby. Mixing them on one “Quince sheets” page is how review sites burn trust. This page is flax only.
This is an early ownership review. The set is on the bed. We have not finished a wash log. Where we have not lived it yet, we say so. That is the same rule as how we test.
What you actually get
Quince lists the queen set with flat sheet at $144 against a $259 “traditional retail” number. You get a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, and two standard pillowcases. Twin gets one pillowcase. King and Cal King get king cases. Split King is two Twin XL fitted sheets plus a large flat and two king cases.
The fitted sheet is rated to 16 inches, elastic all the way around. Care: cold, gentle, like colors. Line dry or tumble low and pull them out. Steam or iron if you care. We do not iron sheets. That is a linen decision, not a Quince defect.
Fabric: 100% European flax, garment-washed, 150 GSM. STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX (Quince prints certificate BEHO 078808 on this SKU). Made in China and India. 365-day returns and free standard shipping. That return window is the honest safety net if linen is not your fabric.
Charcoal Chambray is a dark, slightly two-tone charcoal — not solid black, not navy. If you wanted a stripe or gingham, that is a different colorway on the same set. We bought this one.
Pieces and what they are not
- With flat sheet = fitted + flat + pillowcases. That is our set.
- Without flat sheet is a cheaper fitted-only bundle. Do not compare those prices to $144.

Linen vs sateen vs bamboo
Google is full of “Quince linen sheets review” posts that treat every Quince bed SKU as one product. It is not. Quince sells European linen, organic percale, organic sateen, bamboo viscose, linen-bamboo blend, brushed cotton, flannel, even silk. Only the flax set belongs here.
Linen (this set): open weave, 150 GSM, airy, textured, wrinkles on purpose, sleeps cool. Pre-washed so it should not feel like a raw sail. Softens as you wash it. That is the brand pitch and also how flax works.
Sateen (Brooklinen Luxe, and Quince’s own organic sateen): smoother, slight sheen, hotel bed. Sleeps warmer than linen. This is the fabric we already trust from years of Brooklinen.
Bamboo viscose (Quince bamboo sheets, Cozy Earth): silky, cool to the touch, looks “expensive” in photos. Not flax. We have not slept on Quince bamboo or Cozy Earth eucalyptus. We will not write that review from a press kit.
If a roundup ranks “Quince sheets” without naming the fabric, ignore the ranking. You would not compare a chino to a polo and call both pants.
Heat, wrinkles, and the first night
The magazine reviews (PureWow, Real Simple, Buy Side, Better Homes) all land on the same three points: hot sleepers like them, they start a little textured, they get softer. That matches flax, not a secret sauce. We are not going to restyle those quotes as our six-month test.
What we will say from putting Charcoal Chambray on the bed: linen does not look crisp. If you make the bed and expect hospital corners that hold a crease, you bought the wrong fabric. The point of this set is a broken-in look on day one.
Breathability is the reason to pay for linen. 150 GSM is light. Quince’s own fabric chart puts this on the cool side and sateen on the warm side. If you sleep hot and hate polyester microfiber, this is the experiment. If you want that cold-sateen slap when you get in, stay with Brooklinen.
Wrinkles: they will wrinkle. Pulling them from a hot dryer and stretching the fitted sheet while it is still warm helps. Leaving them in a heap overnight does not. We are not going to pretend a $144 linen set comes out of the drum like percale.
Still open, and we will update this page: wrinkle level after a real week of laundry, whether Charcoal Chambray reads navy in low light, pilling, and whether the 16-inch pocket stays put on our mattress. If those answers change the verdict, the TL;DR changes with them.

- You already like linen, or you want to try it without a $400 Belgian set.
- You sleep warm and you are done with slick sateen in July.
- You want a dark sheet that does not show every speck. Charcoal Chambray is that bet.
- You will use the 365-day return if the texture is not for you.
Who should skip these
- You want a hotel bed. Buy Brooklinen sateen. We already said that in the Brooklinen review.
- Wrinkles stress you out. Linen is a wrinkled fabric. No care trick fully deletes that.
- You actually bought Quince bamboo viscose. This page is not your product.
- You need a fitted-only set. Price-shop the no-flat SKU, not this one.
- You expected thread-count bragging. Quince publishes GSM for this set (150), not a 400-thread-count story. That is correct for linen. It is not a cotton sheet.
Quince linen vs Brooklinen cotton
Brooklinen is the cotton we have lived with. Quince linen is the flax we just put on. Different job. The chino review already showed Quince can beat a premium name on apparel, the same way our ABC pant review set the bar. Bedding is not automatic. Cotton sateen and European flax are not substitutes.
Buy Quince linen if the bed should breathe and look casual. Buy Brooklinen if the bed should look made. Owning both is reasonable. Ranking them as “better sheets” without the fabric is how you get a useless winner.
We are not picking a numeric score until the wash log exists. Early call: the $144 price is the whole pitch, and it only works if you wanted linen in the first place. It is a bad deal if you wanted sateen on sale.
Price, returns, and the “traditional retail” line
$144 for a queen set with a flat sheet is cheap for 100% European flax. It is not cheap for a no-name microfiber set from a marketplace. Compare it to other linen, not to Amazon basics.
Quince’s $259 traditional-retail strikethrough is marketing. Use the $144 number. Use the 365-day return. If the texture bugs you in week two, send them back. That policy is more useful than a fabric story.
How to wash them without ruining the look
Quince: cold, gentle, like colors, line dry or low tumble, pull them promptly. That is also standard linen care. High heat is how you shrink flax and bake in wrinkles.
We do not add fabric softener to linen. It coats the fiber and fights the breathability you paid for. Wool dryer balls are the thing Quince upsells. Optional.
Dark charcoal can crock onto lighter pillowcases in the first washes if you mix loads. Wash this set with darks. If Charcoal Chambray fades, that goes in the update. We have not claimed fade resistance we have not seen.
What other Quince sheet reviews get wrong
Most “Quince sheets” articles treat the brand as one bed. Quince sells flax, sateen, percale, bamboo viscose, and blends. We bought flax. Charcoal Chambray. With the flat sheet. That is the only set this page is qualified to talk about.
The other miss is using Brooklinen as a synonym for “nice sheets.” Brooklinen, for us, is cotton sateen. This Quince set is linen. You can like both. You cannot swap them and keep the same bed.

Do Quince linen sheets wrinkle?
Yes. Linen wrinkles. Pre-washing makes them softer, not crisp. If a wrinkle-free bed is the goal, this is the wrong product.
Are they good for hot sleepers?
That is the use case. Open flax weave, light GSM, moisture-wicking pitch. We are sleeping on them because of that, not because they look like a hotel.
Quince linen vs Cozy Earth?
Different fabrics. Cozy Earth is famous for viscose from eucalyptus. This Quince set is flax. We have not tested Cozy Earth, so we will not write that comparison.
What size fitted sheet?
Quince says up to 16 inches, elastic all around. Deep pillow-top mattresses should measure before you bet the return window.
Should I buy the set with the flat sheet?
We did. If you only use a duvet and skip the flat, the fitted-only bundle is cheaper. Do not use our $144 number for that SKU.
Verdict
Buy the Charcoal Chambray linen set if you want flax at $144 and you will live with wrinkles. Do not buy it as a Brooklinen substitute. Do not buy it because a bamboo roundup ranked for “sheets.”
