The Himiway Zebra: A closer look
Now let’s take a more in-depth look at what makes the Himiway Zebra so great. As we mentioned before, one of the best features of this bike is its powerful motor. With 750 watts of power, it’s sure to give you plenty of speed and torque. The motor is also very quiet, so you won’t have to worry about disturbing your neighbors when you’re riding around.
The Zebra is available in two unique options, the Black/Grey Step Over (or high step) and the White Zebra Step Thru. We tested the Himiway Zebra Step Thru Version of this fat tire ebike.

What’s the big idea behind the Zebra?
The Himiway Zebra is the updated version of Himiway Cruiser – which is another great, fat tire eBike.

What we love about the Zebra
There are many things that we love about the Zebra, but this truly a unique version of the previous Himiway Cruiser, not just a lame excuse for a new product – but something that will REALLY stand out on the bike paths. Here are some of our favorite features.
Hydraulic Brakes: A Premium Feature at no extra charge on this electric bike
The Himiway Zebra comes equipped with hydraulic disc brakes. This is another premium feature that you’ll typically find on more expensive bikes.
Hydraulic disc brakes provide superior braking performance and durability. With proper maintenance, there won’t be a decline in braking power for 5 years.
This is a great feature to have if you’re planning on doing any serious riding on the Zebra. You’ll be able to stop on a dime, no matter what the terrain or conditions are.
Upgraded Inner Ring and Motor
The motor on the Zebra eBike is also improved. Beyond just being more powerful, it has an upgraded inner ring that’s specialized for high-temperature resistance and better heat dissipation.
This will help to extend the life of your motor and keep it running at peak performance.
At 750 Watts, the motor is really what makes the Zebra run – quite literally. Most eBikes however around 500 Watts, but 750 Watts is 50% (obviously). What does that mean for you, the rider? It means that you’ll have plenty of power to get up any hills or inclines. And, it also means that you can reach higher top speeds. Just be sure to hold on tight!
A bright light
I didn’t think much when I saw the front light, but the second I turned it on – wow! I was so impressed with how bright it was. It’s 20% brighter than a standard LED light.
This is a great safety feature, especially if you’re planning on doing any night riding. With the Zebra’s bright light, you’ll be sure to stay visible – and safe.
Other Basic Specifications: Battery, Range and more
There are a ton basic features on the Himiway Zebra, that you’ve grown to expect in other eBikes. Let’s quickly look at some of the basics like range and more.
Himiway Zebra Range + Battery
The Zebra features a 48V 20Ah Lithium-ion battery with Samsung/LG cells (exactly the same specs as the Meebike, ironically – read our Meebike Review and Meebike Promo Code).
This allows you to have a range of up to 60 miles on electric power alone. And, if you’re using pedal assist, you can extend that range up to 80+ miles.
The battery will also maintain 80% capacity after 1,000 charges – so you don’t have to worry about it losing power over time.
A quick note about range
Range is technically unlimited because you can always pedal if you run out of power. However, at about 79 pounds, it will be a little more difficult. So, you can always pedal if you need to – but we recommend sticking to the electric power as much as possible.
Half-twist throttle AND Pedal Assist
The Himiway Zebra arrives as a Class 2 eBike, meaning it goes up to 20 MPH using either the throttle or pedal assist.
However, there are guides online to adjust the trip computer to make the Zebra a Class 3 eBike. We typically like to do that for any eBike that we can, however, you really don’t need to with this beast. The Class 2 Speed of 20 MPH and super-fast acceleration makes this eBike more than capable the way it comes.
Built-in rear rack
The Zebra comes standard with a rear rack (complete with the himiway Zebra e-bike branding on the wooden top of the rack), which is great. The bright rear light also sits on the rear rack, too.
At 400 pounds of maximum payload, the rear rack is a great way to take advantage of the added payload capacity – which is great on many Himiway Bikes.
What we loved about the Zebra
First of all, this eBike is just so much fun to ride. It feels like riding a motorcycle, but without all the noise and fumes.
The acceleration is really fast and the top speed is impressive. You’ll definitely have a blast riding this bike around.
We also loved how well-built and solid the Zebra feels. Everything from the frame to the components feels high-quality. This is a bike that’s built to last.
Finally, we were really impressed with the battery life and range. With up to 60 miles on a single charge, you’ll be able to ride for a long distance without having to worry about recharging.
What we didn’t love about the Zebra
The Zebra is just a monster to ride. It’s almost uncontrollable at high levels of pedal assist.
I had read all about its impressive power and performance, and I couldn’t wait to take it for a spin.
As soon as I got on, I could feel the raw power of the motor. It was almost too much to handle at first, but I quickly got used to it. The acceleration is incredible, and the top speed is just insane.
I took it for a spin around my neighborhood, and everyone stopped to stare. They had never seen anything like it before. I felt like a celebrity riding around on my new Zebra eBike.
The only downside is that the Zebra is so powerful, it’s almost uncontrollable at high levels of pedal assist. If you’re not careful, you could easily find yourself going much faster than you intended. So, just be careful and take it easy at first until you get used to the power.
Overall, the Himiway Zebra is an incredible eBike. It’s packed with power and performance, and it’s just so much fun to ride. If you’re looking for an eBike that will provide you with an exhilarating riding experience, then the Zebra is definitely worth checking out.
The Ride Experience: Like riding a banshee
I didn’t know this, but the creatures they ride in Avatar? Banshees.
Want to ride one on earth? Well, it’s not a Banshee, it’s called the Zebra.
To me, the Zebra is the worse named eBike – not because it’s terrible – but this bike feels like a Banshee, not a Zebra (but who really knows what riding a Zebra is like?).
The pedal assist, especially at higher levels (above 2), the pedal assist just takes over control and you need to hold on for dear life… or for the ride of your life.
What does this feel like in real life? It feels like one small pedal turn and a ton of pedal assist – like WHOA! The pedal assist just takes off like a banshee.
If you’re not careful with the throttle, and you have the pedal assist on a high level, it’s easy to go too fast. I was going 22 mph without trying too hard.
Do people ride Zebras? No, they don’t. But this electric bike will make you feel like you’re riding one – that’s been prodded and now it’s running for its life.
The Zebra is a class 2 ebike, which means that it goes up to 20 mph on throttle or pedal assist. But there are guides online to adjust the trip computer to make the Zebra a class 3 ebike – which would make it go up to 28 mph.
I have no idea why you would want to do that because this bike is so fast as is. The class 2 speed of 20 mph and super-fast acceleration makes this ebike more than capable the way it comes.
But if you’re feeling frisky, and you want to see just how fast this thing can go… maybe don’t do it in a crowded city street. It’s that powerful and that fun.

How the bike LOOKS
The bike looks awesome. You’ll feel like a celebrity because this bike stands out from the crowd.
The bike has big, aggressive 26″ x 4″ Kenda fat tires that make you sit up high on the bike. The tires are black and super fat.
Overall, the bike looks great and it’s sure to turn heads when you’re riding it around town.
Easy to Assemble
This eBike, like many others we’ve talked about, is direct-to-consumer. It took me about 30 minutes to put together – which is average for the eBikes I’ve tested.

Overall, we had a blast on the Himiway Zebra electric fat bike. However, my dad’s reaction in the Meebike vs. Zebra eBike comparison was the perfect summation, “It’s a monster.”
From the large fat tires to the super aggressive pedal assist, there is nothing subtle about the Zebra. That makes the Zebra a perfect eBike for thrill seekers who want a fast and powerful bike.

FAQs for the Himiway Zebra Step Thru Bike with Fat Tires
How long does it take to charge the Zebra?
The Zebra battery will fully charge in just 4-6 hours. So, if you’re planning a long ride, you can easily charge it overnight and be good to go in the morning.
Does the Himiway have a front suspension fork?
Yes, this has a great suspension fork that helps the e-bike unparalleled durability.
Can you adjust the head tub length?
Not really, the lock-out can make it lightly different, but not enough to make this e-bike super adjustable.
Are himiway bikes any good?
Some people have had some issues with customer support, but we haven’t had any issues at all on this e-bike. Himiway keeps doing things, like adding an upgraded motor and integrated battery, but none of the e-bikes we’ve tested are 100% perfect.
