Meet Hey Dude Shoes
Hey Dude Shoes are a relatively new brand, founded in 2008 by Alessandro Rosano. Hey Dude shoes are made with sustainability in mind, using recycled materials and biodegradable packaging.
They’re a lightweight, supportive, and comfortable shoe.
In 2022, Crocs bought Hey Dude. They bought Hey Dude Shoes because of their commitment to Hey Dude’s unique style, comfort, and sustainability.
While Crocs and Hey Dude will retain their own independent brand identities, both brands will focus on digital growth as well as differentiated retail partnerships.
Hey Dude is a unique brand and Crocs hopes to keep it that way. They will be kept separate brands and they reach a different target market, for sure!
Why we don’t recommend Hey Dude Shoes, and what we recommend instead
We simply don’t like the style of Hey Dude Shoes, that’s what it really comes down to. We like the styles of Rothy’s and Allbirds men’s shoes much more! Read our Allbirds vs. Rothy’s Roundup, too.

What’s great about Hey Dude Shoes
Hey Dude Shoes have a lot going for them (probably why Crocs bought them). The shoes are:

They make a wide variety of slip ons for men, women and kids.
Squishy, airy, cushiony, and breezy
Hey Dude Shoes are squishy, airy, cushiony and breezy. They’re perfect for people who want to be comfortable but don’t care about their style. They’re machine washable and available in a variety of colors and styles. It’s like Crocs but slightly more stylish (although that’s not saying a whole lot).
Lightweight… incredibly lightweight
When I say these shoes are light weight. I’m not kidding.

You are looking at that correctly. The HEYDUDE Shoes are only 177 grams. The Suavs Shoes are 223 Grams. While they are both lightweight, it’s incredible just how lightweight these shoes are. Also, check out our best summer shoes guide.
They are the new lightweight footwear champion. The lightest sneakers we’ve ever tried walking in.
That’s about the weight of a frisbee. Yes. A frisbee.
You can’t wear a frisbee as footwear (for men or women), but you can use these shoes as sneakers as light as frisbees.
The comfort of HeyDude Shoes
These shoes are like socks on your feet that you can wear in public.
They are super comfortable and feel like you’re walking on pillows. Seriously, I don’t know if I’ve ever experienced shoes this comfortable.
It’s almost like they took all of their style points (which they only get about 3 points on… out of 100) and poured them into the comfort. Hey Dude Shoes are so comfortable that you might not ever want to take them off… or might even forget they aren’t your style.
I’m super serious about this. I know I’ve been cracking jokes, but these’ shoes are seriously comfortable.
I’ve heard Hey Dude shoes described as “the perfect travel companion for your feet.” And I have to say, I agree. Hey Dude shoes are ultra-lightweight, comfortable, and easy to pack. They’re perfect for traveling because they won’t take up much space in your suitcase and they’ll keep your feet comfortable while you’re on the go.
So, if you’re looking for a comfortable shoe to travel in, Hey Dude Shoes are a great option. Just be prepared to get upgraded to first class by the look of these shoes.
They are not stylish by any means. They’re the Crocs of slip on shoes. But if comfort is what you’re after, Hey Dude Shoes are definitely worth checking out.
Machine Washable
Like other lightweight shoes we’ve tested, each pair can be washed. Yes, you read that correctly, these bad boys are machine washable. The perfect pair of shoes for us is a clear pair of shoes. Because the shoes are of great quality, washing them only adds to the life of the shoes.
No Shoe Laces… kinda
This shoe does have shoe laces, but not in the technical, traditional sense.
It has shoe laces (with a cool little logo on it, just for some added looks).
Is your shoe too tight? Then simply pull on the laces to make the pair fit great.
Flex and Fold technology
These shoes utilize Flex and Fold technology as well as memory-foam insoles to provide maximum comfort. The flex and fold tech not only provides an incredible, comfortable fit but also allows them to be easily packed into luggage without taking up too much space.
Their bi-component knit uppers provide comfort and versatility for one of the most versatile, everyday shoes for men.
This is what makes the Hey Dude Wally Shoes such a great pair of travel shoes, too.
What’s not so great about Hey Dude Shoes?
Hey Dude Shoes are, well, ugly. They’re the kind of shoes you wear when you don’t care about your style. They’re the epitome of “comfort over style.” If you’re looking for a pair of shoes that will make you look good, Hey Dude Shoes are not for you.
If James Bond is your style spirit animal, then run. Run far, far away from Hey Dude Shoes. These shoes are not for the super style-conscious.
Hey Dude shoes have been described as “clown shoes,” “grandpa shoes for teenagers,” and “uggs for men.” While some people find the Hey Dude aesthetic to be stylish and unique, others find it to be ugly and unstylish. It’s really a matter of personal preference.
This is a casual shoe, but also super comfortable shoes. No bones about it.
How to style Hey Dude Shoes
Once again, these super lightweight shoes are not going to be the star of the next Met Gala, at least not intentionally.
These are very casual and would be great for casual travel or your active lifestyle. The light weight design allows you to roll them up and toss them in your luggage for each new adventure.
Pair these with some casual travel pants, jeans, or even just shorts. If they get dirty on your adventure, machine wash and they will be like a new pair to you!
These would also be a great pair to wear to the pool or anywhere you need to slip them off.
Are Hey Dude Shoes worth it?
Hey Dude Sneakers are a great choice if you’re looking for a lightweight, comfortable, and cushiony shoe but avoid them if you value your style. They’re available in a variety of colors and styles but they’re definitely not the most stylish shoes on the market. Comfort is key with Hey Dude Shoes and they definitely deliver in that department.
If you’re looking for a versatile, comfortable shoe to travel in or just wear around the house, these shoes are worth checking out. Just don’t expect them to turn heads when you walk into a room.

I get it, Hey Dude Shoes are comfortable as hell. They’re also affordable, costing between $30 and $80.
I wouldn’t say they have a face that only a mother can love, but they are designed for a style that I’m not sure I match the style. I almost feel like you need to have at least 1 tattoo or be a budding skateboarding influencer to really pull these off.
