A great bike brand

The eSpin Flow and eSpin Nesta are great eBikes packed with features - including hydraulic disc brakes. That's typically a feature you don't see in bikes under $2,000.

eSpin says they are, “electric bikes with competitive functionalities at accessible prices.” Are they? Keep on reading to find out more!

We also tested the eSpin Nesta (a foldable, Class 3 eBike) and the eSpin Flow (a cruiser, Class 2 eBike). We’ll break down what we liked, what we didn’t like and what you need to know before buying on of these eBikes.

eSpin eBikes: A quick review

If you are looking for a unique eBike brand with some truly unique features: check out eSpin.

To be honest, I thought they were a bit of a “me too” bike brand – a bike brand that simply want to pump out bikes to serve a quickly growing market. But I couldn’t have been more wrong. I was pleasantly surprised by the unique features (everything from the hydraulic disc brakes to the front suspension fork) that came standard with the bike.

I also really like how eSpin stands behind their products.

They come really easy to assemble, free shipping and super helpful support. Seriously, what’s there not to like about this – especially if it’s your first bike of the electric variety.

eSpin Nesta Reviews: What you need to know

The eSpin Nesta is called the “Nesta” because it folds up. It’s a unique, Class 3 eBike.

The Basics of the eSpin Nesta

eSpin Nesta Reviews typically start with the specs, right?

This ebike has all the basics that you’d expect, in addition to some extras:

  1. 750W Rear Hub Motor – electric motor in the rear wheel
  2. Single Battery with a range of about 40 miles
  3. Comes as a Class 3 eBike (what’s are the different eBike Classifications)
  4. Includes an integrated rear frame (pictured)
  5. Also comes with a front rack (not pictured)
  6. Available in Smoke Gray (pictured) and Blue
  7. LCD Display
  8. Top speed: 28 MPH – through throttle or torque sensing pedal assist
  9. Rear Light – Tail Light included
  10. Front Light Headlight
  11. Four Inch Fat Tires
  12. e Bike Full Fenders: includes Front and rear fenders
  13. Hydraulic Disc Brakes

eSpin Nesta Review: The Good Stuff

There’s a lot of like about this eBike. Let’s talk about the good.

The Form

eSpin Nesta is super comfortable to ride.

We preferred the overall form to this eBike over the Snapcycle S1 (read our full Snapcycle S1 Review and get our Snapcycle Promo Code)

The bike is simply easier to ride than other foldable eBikes and is very ergoomic.

The Snapcycle S1 just seemed to be a little bit less ergonomic, however, the battery pack is hidden in the frame, which we really liked.

The foldability

eSpin Nesta: Folds super easily.

To be honest, I didn’t even read the instructions – that’s because this eSpin eBike folds super easily to about 1-quarter of the original size.

Even better: it can now fit in the back of an SUV or even a camper.

Many foldable ebikes look a bit clunky, but this one doesn’t. Sure, the battery could be a little less obvious, but that’s OK. We really liked this eBike included both a step through Design and foldability- that’s pretty cool.

On top of that, it handled off-roading well, too.

Built in rear rack

espin review: we love the rear rack is included!
The rear rack came included – a super big bonus to not have to install yourself.

The rear rack comes included with the eSpin Nesta. Even better news: it is pre-installed on the eBike. If you’ve ever installed a rear rack before, you know that they can be a bit tricky.

It’s great that it’s included – but even better it’s already installed.

Hydraulic Disc Brakes

To be honest, I didn’t know much about the difference between Hydraulic Disc Brakes and Mechanical Disc Brakes, but the fact the eSpin eBikes come with Hydraulic Disc brakes is a huge bonus!

Why?

Mechanical Disc brakes are easier to get started with – from an installation standpoint – than Mechanical Disc Brakes.

Mechanic brakes tend to have more squeal and more adjustment needed than Hydraulic brakes.

They are also more complicated and more expensive. So, to find hydraulic disc brakes on a sub $2,000 eBike is next to un-heard of.

The only other ebikes we’ve tested with Hydraulic Disc Brakes are the RadRover 6 (read our RadRover 6 Review) and the QuietKat (read our QuietKat Review, coming soon).

Powerful Rear Hub Motor

The 750 watt nominal/1000 peak output rear hub drive motor is more than enough to get this eBike up and going.

With a top speed of 28 MPH with Pedal Assist and Throttle makes this eBike a Class 3 eBike. It also makes it a ton of fun, too.

eSpin Nesta Reviews: The Price

While the eSpin Nesta retails for $1,799 – it’s not the most expensive – or the least expensive eBike we’ve tested.

It’s on of the cheapest eBikes with Hydraulic Brakes we’ve found and definetly the cheapest Class 3 Bike with Hydraulic Disc Brakes.

We also love the fact that it comes with both a rear rack and a front rack as part of their ongoing promotion – with free shipping, you really can’t beat that!

eSpin Nesta: Small Issues, but not deal killers

The only real issue I had with the eSpin Nesta was the LCD Display.

Sure, it’s not the most advanced LCD display we’ve tested – or even the worst – but it could have been better. We’ve tested LCD displays with everything from bluetooth technology to connect to your phone for ride data to displaying the temperature (a seemingly small, but super helpful feature).

Once again, not a deal killer – but a small pet peeve of mine.

eSpin Flow Review

The eSpin flow is the classic cruiser style eBike, with some great extras.

eSpin Flow Review

eSpin Flow electric Bike: The Features

It has many features you’d expect, in addition to a couple that you wouldn’t:

This ebike has all the basics that you’d expect in an electric bike, in addition to some extras:

  1. 500W Rear Hub Motor – electric motor in the rear wheel
  2. Single Battery with a range of about 40 miles
  3. Class 2 eBike (what’s are the different eBike Classifications)
  4. Includes an integrated rear frame (pictured)
  5. Also comes with a front rack (not pictured)
  6. Available in Smoke Gray (pictured) and Green (pictured below)
  7. LCD Display
  8. Top speed: 20 MPH – through throttle or torque sensing pedal assist
  9. 5 Levels of Pedal Assist
  10. Rear Light – Tail Light included
  11. Front Light Headlight
  12. Four Inch Fat Tires
  13. e Bike Full Fenders: includes Front and rear fenders
  14. Hydraulic Disc Brakes

eSpin Flow: What we love

First of all, we love the super clean look of the Flow eBike. It has a nice matte grey finish to it that really looks great in person.

It’s also a super-sturdy step-thru design (in fact, it reminds us a bit of the KBO Breeze Step Thru – read our KBO Breeze Review).

We also love the hydraulic disc brakes on this electric bike. If you’ve tried regular breaks, you know they can squeal a bit when you first get them – but these bad boys handled everything like a charm.

Going from a quick acceleration down steep hills to a full stop was awesome.

eSpin Flow: Small flaws, but not deal killers

The eSpin Flow only has a 500w Motor. While it’s not underpowered by any means, I should have tested the eSpin Flow first – then the Nesta. I would have been pleasantly surprised the Nesta speed instead of being slightly underwhelmed by the eSpin Flow.

Class 2 vs. Class 3 eBikes

We’ve wrote extensively about the difference between Class 2 and Class 3 eBikes here.

Granted, the eSpin Flow doesn’t have the range of something like the Haoqi Antelope and you probably would never notice the difference in wattage and overall power if you haven’t tried a bunch of other eBikes (read about our Best Fat Tire eBikes).

But, as I mentioned, if you don’t ride a lot of other electric bikes with pedal assist, you probably wouldn’t notice.

Other eSpin Electric Bikes

We were lucky enough to test two models from eSpin – the Nesta and Flow. However, eSpin also makes several other eBike models. Let’s take a quick look at them.

The eSpin Sport

The best-selling eSpin Sport electric bike.

If you’re looking for an e-bike that can do it all, look no further than the eSpin 21 Sport. With its mountain bike-inspired frame and powerful motor, this e-bike has all the features you need to take on any trail or urban jungle with ease.

The eSpin 21 Sport features hydraulic disc brakes and costs only $1,899.

This eBike looks like a slightly more trail-friendly version of the eSpin Flow. The high step design will help the eSpin Sport be a little more sturdy with the extra support beam.

eSpin Nero Reviews: The Quick Version

The eSpin Nesta electric bike gets a tire upgrade – at a good value.

The eSpin Nero is the ultimate sport e-bike for those looking to take their adventures to the next level – and want to fold their eBike, too.

We originally wanted to do an eSpin Nero Review, but it was out of stock at the time of publication.

Whether you’re cruising through city streets or tackling rugged trails, this e-bike has everything you need to power your way through any journey. With its durable frame, powerful motor, and integrated features like a rear rack, fenders, and LED lights, the eSpin Neuro is the perfect companion for all your cycling needs.

And at just $1,899, it’s also an affordable option that gives you more bang for your buck. So if you’re looking for a high-performance e-bike that can seamlessly transition from pavement to offroad terrain, look no further than the eSpin Neuro.

It features larger tires than the Nesta, so it’s slightly larger but is only $100 more.

If you value more off-roading capabilities, go with the Neuro. If you value a smaller size (for either riding or storage), go with the Nesta. You can’t go wrong with either one.

The eSpin aero

Whether you’re a hardcore cyclist looking for a little extra speed or a city commuter in need of a reliable eBike, the Aero from eSpin could be perfect for you.

Crafted with simplicity and style in mind, this sleek eBike features no throttle and only one gear, making it ideal for riders who want to travel through the city without turning heads. At just $899, the Aero is also very affordable, making it an ideal choice for those on a budget.

This is the ultimate hipster eBike – it’s lightweight, has no throttle and only one gear. This eBike isn’t for me, but if you need a city bike with no frills, this might work for you. If you’re looking for an eBike that looks great and doesn’t break the bank, Aero from eSpin is a great option.

To be 100% honest, I thought eSpin eBikes were a bit of a “me, too” bike brand – simply trying to capitalize on a hot eBike market. But it turns out I was very wrong.
