Are you tired of feeling constantly stressed and anxious in today’s fast-paced world? Do you struggle to find effective ways to manage your emotions and improve your overall well-being? If so, you’re not alone.
Fortunately, there’s a revolutionary wearable device that promises to help you take control of your stress levels and boost your mood in just minutes. Meet Apollo Neuro, the cutting-edge technology that uses the power of neuroscience to enhance your mental and physical performance. In this blog post, I’ll share my 2+ year review of this game-changing device and give you an honest, in-depth look at how it has transformed my life.
It seems like a gimmick, but it actually works. The Apollo Neuro is an incredibly device we've been using for 2+ years. The only thing we don't like? Wearing it on our ankle.
Apollo Neuro: What is it?
Apollo Neuro is a wearable device that promises to help you manage stress and improve your mood in just minutes. It’s a sleek, high-tech gadget that you wear on your wrist or ankle, and it uses a combination of touch and vibration to stimulate your nervous system in a way that can make you feel calmer and more focused.
What, exactly, does it do?
The Apollo wearable utilizes safe, gentle touch therapy to send subtle vibrations that help you feel calm and in control. It’s similar to a pager from the Cheesecake Factory, but much more refined and discreet.
But it does vibrate like a restaurant pager but in a more subtle and nuanced way.
The device can be worn on your wrist or ankle, or you can attach it to any article of clothing using the clip – allowing for maximum versatility and customization.
With a few taps in the Apollo Neuro app, you have access to an abundance of proven modes (Called “vibes) that will help facilitate daily transitions and optimize sleep quality, focus, heart rate variability performance, and recovery. Backed by medical professionals & neuroscientists alike – this wearable is suitable for adults as well as children.
What’s the science behind Apollo Neuro?
How does it work? The science behind Apollo Neuro is based on something called “neurostimulation,” which is the practice of using electrical or other types of stimulation to affect the nervous system. Apollo Neuro uses a specific type of neurostimulation called “vibrotactile stimulation,” which involves using gentle vibrations to activate the body’s parasympathetic nervous system.
This is part of the nervous system that’s responsible for rest and relaxation, and by stimulating it with vibrations, Apollo Neuro can help you feel more calm, focused, and energized.
The company has conducted several studies to back up their claims. A double-blind randomized placebo-controlled crossover trial showed that Apollo vibrations improve HRV. Additionally, research has shown that the Apollo wearable can help balance the autonomic nervous system by activating the parasympathetic nervous system through the vagus nerve.
What is the parasympathetic nervous system?
Think of your body like a car. You want it to run smoothly, right? Well, just like a car engine, your body has two modes: one that revs things up and gets you going (like when you’re excited or scared), and one that helps you slow down and relax (like when you’re chillin’ on the couch).
The first mode is like stepping on the gas pedal, and it’s controlled by the sympathetic nervous system. The second mode is like tapping on the brake, and it’s controlled by the parasympathetic nervous system.
The parasympathetic nervous system is your body’s natural way of hitting the brakes and slowing down when things get too stressful. It’s like a built-in relaxation response that helps you stay calm, centered, and focused.
When you activate your parasympathetic nervous system, it helps slow down your heart rate, regulate your breathing, and calm your mind. So, when you’re feeling frazzled, anxious, or overwhelmed, activating your parasympathetic nervous system can help you find your inner zen and get back to feeling balanced and in control.
When you hear about a fight or flight response, the parasympathetic nervous system is the part that should turn on stress reduction and restore overall balance.
Meet Dr. Dave
Dr. David Rabin, MD, Ph.D. and his research team at the University of Pittsburgh pioneered Apollo Neurotechnology. It is founded on decades of scholarly investigation into vibration frequencies and how they affect our bodies. As a neuroscientist and psychiatrist, Dr. Dave is passionate about understanding consciousness as well as giving us the capacity to heal ourselves from sickness or injury naturally.
After dedicating the last 15 years of his life to exploring chronic stress and its effect on our well-being, he noticed a fundamental struggle that we all face – healthy behavior modifications will bring us long-term advantages, yet making those changes are extremely difficult when we’re undergoing constant pressure.
Why we’re sick all the time
The cause? Chronic stress. Our nervous system is in place to keep us secure, so when we experience anxiety our brains inform our bodies “Look out! There’s a lion nearby!”
Consequently, many struggle with insomnia and low energy as if the nervous system wants us either to evade or combat danger while all we are actually attempting to do is get on with our day-to-day lives. We launched Apollo Neuro for this exact purpose – it helps restore harmony within the nervous system by calming the body which leads to greater mental clarity and leaves you feeling safeguarded and empowered over your emotions.
Also, check out our ClearUP Review, to help with actually getting sick.
For more information on our natural fight or flight response mechanisms, I highly recommend reading “Why Zebras don’t get Ulcers.” It’s a great, easy-to-read guide on how we handle stressful situations.
It all comes down to touch
Touch is a remarkable sense which has the power to alter our emotions. It is evolutionarily the primary means of mammals communicating safety and security, yet research demonstrates it goes beyond that; pressure, tone, texture, and melody all play an integral role in touch being felt intensely at extremities when pain or pleasure are experienced.
It’s like a hug. Who doesn’t love a hug?
Our peripheral nerves, which are located just beneath our skin and often referred to as “the body’s own brain,” can detect even the slightest change in pressure. Apollo Neuro’s encompassing vibration-based therapy harnesses this notion by delivering low-frequency sound waves felt as unobtrusive vibrations that interact with these nerve endings.
All about the “Vibes”
“Vibes are like silent soundtracks composed for your body that influence the way you feel.”
Vibes are the “vibration modes” that the Apollo Neuro runs and are designed to help you in particular situations.
The Apollo Vibes offer vibration patterns specifically created to promote states of tranquility, lucidity, concentration, and serenity. Unlike traditional electronic gadgets that jostle like cellphones or massagers, the vibrations from an Apollo wearable are delicate yet precise programs designed to be felt easily by your body.
Fine-tune the Vibe vibration intensity level to suit your environment, just as you’d adjust music volume depending on whether or not you are in a quiet area or loud plane. The concept is for the vibrations to be gentle enough that they slip into the background and become almost unrecognizable.
As you feel the mild vibrations on your skin, their pattern and rhythm vary based on the program being used. When aiming for relaxation or a better night’s sleep, an enjoyable sensation will be experienced; however, if social interaction and focus are targeted then it is likely to come with energizing vibrancy.
Don’t know which “vibe” to use? The Apollo App (now called the Apollo Alpha app) has a great collection of different activities, from public speaking to driving to brainstorming. It also allows you to pick a vibe based on how you are feeling, too.
How to set the vibe: Apollo Neuro Review
The vibe is super easy to set. You can pick one of the vibes (or use the “How you are feeling” or the “What you are doing” option in the app).
From there, you simply select the intensity and time. You can adjust the intensity at any time, either in the app or by using the buttons on the device.
What intensity level do you select?
Apollo recommends that you start with a lower intensity level and work your way up. The vibrations should be barely noticeable when wearing Apollo.
Adjust the intensity to the level that best suits your environment and circumstances. The higher intensity levels are better suited for times when you need an extra oomph, like studying or public speaking. Conversely, lower intensity levels can be used during sleep or times of relaxation.
My Experience With the Apollo Neuro
When I first received my Apollo Neuro device, I was excited but also a bit skeptical. I had tried various stress management techniques in the past, but none of them had made a noticeable difference in my mood or stress levels. However, I was willing to give Apollo Neuro a try, and I’m so glad that I did.
The Neuro is one of those devices that I don’t wear every day – but whenever I do wear it, I always wonder, “Why don’t I wear this more?” More on that in just a second…
Apollo Neuro + Wim Hoff Method = Magic
The Wim Hof Method is a powerful natural training tool that helps you to unlock your full potential. Developed by Dutchman Wim Hof, the method combines breathing exercises, cold exposure and meditation to help you gain control over your body and mind. Through consistent practice of the method, you can expect to experience maximum energy, restful sleep, an uncluttered headspace and a host of other benefits.
The breathing technique involves taking in a strong inhalation through the nose followed by a relaxed exhalation through the mouth. This is repeated for 30 breaths. Cold exposure can take the form of ice baths or very cold showers. The meditative aspect of the method focuses on willpower and self-control.
This is when I use my Apollo Neuro the MOST – for this focus. In fact, there is a “calm” vibe for the Neuro Wearable.
The Wim Hof Method has been scientifically proven to have acute effects on repeated sprint performance as well as improved autonomic nervous system regulation. It has also been found to reduce stress levels and improve overall mental health.
If you’re looking for an effective way to boost your physical and mental wellbeing, give the Wim Hof Method a try, for even better results, pair it with the Apollo Neuro
Why I don’t use it more
As I mentioned, this is one of those great devices that you forget about. It’s like the opposite of caffeine. You notice the impact of caffeine pretty quickly, but the Apollo Neuro is all about not experiencing stress. It’s an odd thing to explain, but it’s all about the lack of something rather than an increase.
That said, I do wish that I used my Apollo Neuro more often. That’s why I created this article: to remind myself and others that there is a great tool out there for improved stress management, performance enhancement, and overall well-being.
The House Arrest Bracelet Look
But the real reason that I don’t use the device as often as a I should is because it looks a bit like a house-arrest ankle bracelet. I know, that’s a silly thing to worry about, but my wife and kids ask me questions about it all the time.
I actually got the Neuro before they offered the clip, which allows the device to be worn more discreetly. However, I haven’t had the chance to test this out for myself.
You can also wear the Apollo Device on your wrist, which wouldn’t look as much like a house-arrest anklet. However, I think it looks odd to wear an Apple Watch on one wrist and the Apollo Device on the other.
What about wearing the Apollo at night?
I’d recommend not using the Apollo to stay asleep, but I would recommend it for falling asleep.
The touch therapy really works, but I noticed when the Apollo turns off during sleeping.
While it’s technically possible to wear the device for better sleep all night, it did wake me up from a deep sleep when I wore it the entire time I was sleeping and the device stopped (the vibe ran out of time).
Apollo has teased a new function in beta to not only help you fall asleep, but also stay asleep.
I, fortunately, don’t have any problems falling asleep, but I do have some problems when it comes time to relax and unwind. I feel like the vibration patters can help me with a sleep – or even deep sleep – if I’m a little amped up.
What about charging and battery life?
The Apollo takes about 4 hours to fully charge and a full charge of the Apollo Neuro’s battery will give you about 6-8 hours of continuous use.
If your Apollo does not last as long, check and make sure there is no firmware update available for the device. We love that the Apollo does update their firmware to help with things like battery life and to also support new modes and functionality.
I know it seems like a small thing, but it’s a big deal that the Apollo Neuro is constantly striving to improve the user experience.
Final Thoughts: Apollo Neuro Review
It seems like a gimmick, but it actually works. The Apollo Neuro is an incredibly device we've been using for 2+ years. The only thing we don't like? Wearing it on our ankle.
Overall, my experience with the Apollo Neuro has been extremely positive; it has helped me reduce stress levels, increase focus and energy levels, and improve my performance during physical activities. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a way to naturally manage their stress and improve their overall wellbeing.
How my HRV changed
My experience using the Apollo Neuro for heart rate variability and performance has been incredibly positive. Since beginning to use it, I’ve seen a significant decrease in my resting heart rate, as well as an increase in my overall physical performance. Not only have I experienced improved energy levels throughout the day, but when I’m consistent – I notice a drop in my HRV (as measured by my Apple Watch and Apple Health, which the device syncs perfectly with Apple Health).
The key is consistency
Apollo says they recommend using the Apollo wearable for a minimum of 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, during the day and night. Make the most of it – utilizing the Neuro more often will pave the way for better results. Give each Vibe a chance and find out which works best for you; after all, everyone is unique.
Over time, I began to notice some notable changes in my mood and stress levels. I found that I was feeling more calm and focused during the day, and that I was able to sleep more deeply at night. I also felt like I had more energy and motivation to tackle my daily tasks and responsibilities.
One personal anecdote that stands out to me involves a particularly stressful day at work. I was feeling overwhelmed and anxious, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to get through the day. However, I decided to put on my Apollo Neuro device and give it a try. Within just a few minutes, I could feel my stress levels starting to decrease, and I was able to approach my work tasks with a more calm and focused mindset.
Overall, my experience with Apollo Neuro has been extremely positive. While it’s not a magic solution to all of my stress and anxiety, it has definitely helped me feel more grounded and centered in my daily life. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new way to manage stress and improve their overall well-being.
