If you’re anything like us, you love to lounge around the house in your PJs. But sometimes it’s nice to feel a little bit more put together – not to mention, a lot more comfortable. That’s where Jambys comes in.
Like everything we write about on We Tried It – we’ve personally tried everything we write about to give you our honest review. We won’t just try to re-word some of the other Jambys Reviews we find on the internet. We admit, this review is a bit light on pictures of us in the clothes, because… who wants to see us in our sleepwear? Really?
They call their clothes “Performance Inactivewear” but we just think of them as really soft and sustainable clothes that make you feel good at home.
We love everything about Jambys – from how soft and comfortable they are to knowing exactly what they are (not some high-performance brand that takes themselves too seriously). If you’re looking for an excuse to stay in your pajamas all day, look no further than Jambys!
Why we wanted to do a Jambys Review
So a lot of people have spent the last several years in casual wear and have really grown to appreciate it. I on the other hand, as a 7-year stay-at-home mom, have more years in the bank in my casual wear experience and have a very deep appreciation for casual wear.
So when I say nothing, and I mean nothing, is better casual wear than Jambys, you know it’s good!
Originally started by two college friends who set out to make boxers with pockets. They discovered that Jambys made people excited about getting home and enjoying their free time.
Jambys is “performance inactivewear” (yes, you read that correctly) or “super-soft and sustainable clothes that make you feel good at home.”
Was this slogan written directly to me and my love of indoors, comfort and hygge? You too?
What we tried
Both Mrs. We Tried It and Mr. We Tried It got the chance to put Jambys to the test, which was a rare treat.
Womens Jambys We Tried
I have the Ice Cream Long Jambys in color Why Didn’t We Make This Earlier (that’s ACTUALLY the name of the color). which is a grey/black combo priced at $73.
What are Long Jambys?
Long Jambys are the best pants for wearing around the house. They’re made out of the same super-soft Jambys material, so they’re lightweight and breathable. Plus, they have a slim fit that’s perfect for wearing with or without underwear. And if you’re feeling really crazy, you could even wear them with original Jambys underneath! So if you’re looking for the perfect pant to lounge around in, Long Jambys are the way to go.
In also tried the Gray/Black House Hoodie – priced at $79. I have the XS in both pieces, which I would say means this brand runs a little large, but it is unisex sizing so that makes sense.
What is the Jambys House Hoodie?
The House Hoodie is the perfect piece of clothing for cooler indoor temps. It’s made from a sumptuous French Terry, which is stretchy, really soft, and lightweight. It’s also breathable enough to wear for 93 hours in a row. (Jambys CLAIMS that at hour 94, your body begins to fuse with the hoodie – but don’t say that no one warned you.)
We know it sounds crazy, but just try wearing it shirtless at least once. Or don’t. You be you. Queen (or King)
Mens Jambys We Tried
I tried the JamTee (see what they did there?) in Medium.
What is the JamTee?
Jambys has done it again! The JamTee is crafted from the same custom French Terry Modal as their Jambys, so it feels super soft on the hand, but is still breathable, plush, and stretchy.
The JamTee is designed so it doesn’t ride up when you sit — just make sure you get different colors so your coworkers don’t think you WFH in the same shirt every day.
It also feels cool to the touch, and almost trippy the first time you experience it. Jambys has thought of everything! Get yourself a JamTee today. You won’t regret it.
I also tried the original Jambys (the original product idea: boxers with pockets) in size medium. Obviously, we tested them both in Black!
What are the original Jambys?
Jambys are the Original Boxers with Pockets. They are the perfect hybrid of your favorite boxers, briefs, and basketball shorts. Jambys are super-soft unisex house shorts you can wear all on their own around other people.
Stick your stuff in the stretchy pockets, and they won’t fall out. Roam freely around your house guests and the delivery guy — there’s no button fly, which means no accidental flashings. (We’ve all been there.) Wear them in your bed, on your couch, getting the newspaper, however, you want to hang and do your thang. Jambys are made with an ultra-comfortable StretchSoft waistband and are 95% Modal and 5% Spandex woven in a French Terry. Get Original Jambys Now!
What we love about Jambys
Besides the fun branding, there is a lot more we’ve come to love about this product.
The Fabric
Jambys are made of modal and spandex. Modal is that delicious soft cotton material that makes everything so comfortable.
Spandex is the stuff that stretches. Already a win, but then they went and took that fabric combination and knitted it into a French Terry. This gives the fabric more substance. Still super soft and stretchy, but more luxe and less cheap feeling. The fabric is unlike anything else I have in my closet and I absolutely love it.
The Sizing
Sizing is unisex, which feels very inclusive and also makes everything nice and loose.
Easy to coordinate lounge wear
Coordinating lounge wear is having a moment right now. Everyone wants to have their comfy clothes, but have them in a cute set. It is super nice that you can have a matching set in lots of different colors. You can even build a “Housefit” that includes a set of one top and one bottom and saves you money! You save 20% on the Housfit Jambys combo, which is a lot!
Jambys has a few basic cuts, but lots of cute color combinations.
Know exactly what they are designed for
I have clothes that I wear in public which are generally pretty nice and dressy and then when I get home, I put on comfy house clothes. I’m not going to sit on my couch in 100% cotton jeans, a bodysuit and a blazer! So just like the slogan, I look forward to coming home and changing out of my clothes into my Jambys so I can feel good at home.
At the same time, I like that they coordinate and have a cute relaxed casual look, so I don’t look like a complete slob.
Pricing
Jambys are super reasonably priced. They are priced well below other casual wear sets and with the Jambys Housefit option they are even more reasonable. But let’s talk about that more with the negatives.
The Housefit Option
What is the Housefit? The Housefit options is a set of one top and one bottom that you can mix and match. You save 20% when you buy the set which is a great deal!
What we don’t love about Jambys:
Jambys knows exactly what it is – which is more than we can say for many brands we’ve reviewed on We Tried It. And that’s a good thing! But there are a few things we think they could improve on.
The Price
Yes, we know that it seems like a lot to spend almost $100 on a set of clothes to wear at home. However, how much are the lululemon pants you’re probably wearing right now? More than that!
Use the housefit option and save 20%. You won’t regret it. We promise it!
The selling points totally justify the the slightly higher than average price. If you want the most comfortable loungewear, you would be hard pressed to find a better deal on lounge-ish clothes that features the comfortable style from Jambys.
The Original Jambys (if you are a dude)
We didn’t care for the origional Jambys (remember, these are boxers with pockets?) because they are SHORT. They would look better on a girl, but they are SHORT on a guy.
We know that’s the design of these shorts (undies optional) but it’s just short for dudes. It could look OK for girls, but Mrs. We Tried It doesn’t like wearing shorts around the house, mostly because we keep it pretty cool.
A small cool feature of these is Jambys “no crotch flash technology.” This sounds fancy, but it just means that it doesn’t have a button or zip fly.
These are pure house shorts. And if you like shorter shorts – they could be the best house shorts for you if you are a guy. Or, you could just get the pants from this brand. Up to you!
They are super soft and great paired with their t-shirt or even Hoodie.
The overall look is very casual…
Okay, they really aren’t for wearing out of the house (like running errands).
I think they are too casual to wear out, but that’s kind of the whole point. However, some casual sets can be worn out of the house, which can be nice if you just want to be comfy and run errands. Sometimes, then those sets aren’t as comfortable so it could be a trade off. Jambys are super comfortable Housefits!
Alternatives to Jambys
There are, obviously, many Jamby Alternatives.
Based on what we don’t like about Jambys, you could go with a slightly dressier casual outfit. For example, Vuori also makes a jogger and hoodie combo that I own. I think I can wear my Vuori set out of my house to run errands and pick up my kids from school. Read our Vuori Jogger Review.
But if I am sitting on my couch at home I would prefer to be wearing my Jambys. They really are that much more comfortable than other casual sets I own.
The only shirts that come close to feeling “as cool” – as in temperature-wise – to the touch is the Fioboc Shirts. Read our Fioboc Review AND read about the best cooling clothes.
Jambys Review: The Final Verdict
When I first received my Jambys, I wore them for an entire week straight! I only took them off my body to wash them. It was super cold in Colorado that week and we had a week of snow days, so I did not leave my house or my Jambys! That’s how good they are!
We’re excited to give Jambys the We Tried It Seal of approval. Not only are they great lounge clothes, they also speak our language, 100%.
Seriously the most comfortable thing in my closet. If you are looking for a great quality, comfy clothes to hangout and hygge Jambys can not be best.
