Menlo Club Review: We test 5 signature items

Menlo Club Review: You’ve probably seen ads on social media advertising Menlo Club – the men’s clothing subscription box. You’re probably wondering, “Is Menlo Club any good?” or “Is Menlo Club worth it?” Well, don’t look any further than this ultimate Menlo Club Review.

Menlo Club Review: Overview

What is Menlo Club? A men’s fashion subscription box. For about $60/month you get clothes tailored to your tastes sent directly to your home. Save even more with our Menlo Club Promo Code.

Bottom line:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

For about the price of 1 nicer piece of clothing, you can get several high-quality items. For the right person, this makes a ton of sense.

His Review:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Great if you need to refresh your style. Not great if you are SUPER picky about what you want to buy.

Her Review:

Rating: 3 out of 5.

The clothes were great, just not my personal choice for shopping.

Comfort

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The clothes were comfortable – but not on par with something like Lululemon – but they don’t advertise ultimate comfort, either.

Style

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Style is in the eyes of the beholder, right? If I were a little younger, these styles would be perfect. I’m probably slightly older (at 37) than most of their demographic.

Value

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

For $60, even less if you use our Menlo Club Promo Code, you can get a wide variety of new clothes sent to your door every month. For the right person, which we’ll talk about in more detail, that’s the perfect thing!

Menlo Club Review: See the clothes in action

Embarrassingly, we posted the Menlo Club Review on Youtube, but forgot to post the written Menlo Club review here!

Menlo Club Review: The items we reviewed – from favorite to least favorite

Five Four Striped Long-Sleeve Shirt

This was my favorite item on the list because it’s something I’d buy without it being from Menlo Club. It is super soft, had nice details and fit really well.

The only thing I didn’t like was the logo on the front, but it’s not that big of a deal.

This shirt could go with a wide variety of pants, from jeans to even ABC pants (read our ABC Pants Review) or even Myles Tour Pants (read our Tour Pants Review).

Melrose Place Hoodie

A very close second-place to our favorite item in our Menlo Review was the Melrose Place Hoodie. While, as discussed in our Best Hoodie Review, we typically like hoodies that zip, this was still an awesome hoodie that we loved.

It was super soft and had some great details, like rose-gold colored tips on the drawcords.

The hoodie was the perfect size – loose but not baggy. We really liked this Menlo Club Hoodie!

New Republic Shoes

Another big surprise for us was the New Republic Shoes we had the opportunity to review! We really liked these.

We love white shoes, like Oliver Cabell (read our full Oliver Cabell Low 1 Review), but sometimes you just want to wear white shoes that aren’t over $100 and aren’t afraid to get dirty. These shoes are perfect for that!

They are lightweight, has a classic look and even a cool cork interior sole.

Menlo Club Review: The items we didn’t care for

Melrose Place Shirt + Five Four Black Jeans

We didn’t like these two pieces for completely different reasons. The Melrose Place Shirt was simply too boxy and wasn’t flattering to wear.

The Five Four Black Jeans are just something that I’m really picky about what jeans I wear. There wasn’t anything wrong with these jeans, they just weren’t our favorite pieces of clothing. I only have a couple of pairs of jeans that I wear on regular rotation (see our Perfect Jean Review and our Duer Jean Review to see our favorites pair of jeans).

The Jeans also only came in my waist size, which is ok (I recommend you get all pants tailored!), but they were really long. In the Video Menlo Club Review, I rolled up the pants.

But that brings up a very important point in our Menlo Club Review: who is this service best for?

Menlo Club: Who is the service best for… and worst for?

As we mentioned in the overview, the Menlo Club isn’t for everyone. However, it does have it’s place and can serve a great purpose for the right person.

Menlo Club is best for two types of people:

  1. People that just need to refresh their wardrobe a bit. Maybe you’ve lost (or God forbid, gained) a few pounds and you need some new clothes that fit better. Maybe you just did some spring/winter/summer/new year cleaning and new some new clothes – Menlo Club is perfect for you.
  2. People that don’t like to shop for new clothes. Especially if you aren’t picky, this is a great way to add a couple of different options to your wardrobe every single month – or quarter (more on that in just a second).

Menlo Club is not for a couple types of people:

  1. People that are VERY picky about what clothes they like to wear. If you are super picky about the clothing you wear – for whatever reason: fit, color, sizing, etc – then Meno Club is probably not for you.
  2. People that already have a ton of clothes. Mr. We Tried it has a ton of clothes already so, this is almost overwhelming to add to the mix.

Menlo Club: How does it work and the options

As mentioned, Menlo Club is $60/month (save more with our Menlo Club Promo Code) or they also have a unique option where you can get a package every season (aka quarter) for $75/shipment.

Each shipment typically includes 2-3 items and is based on your style selection and sizes available.

Menlo Club Review: Return options

One of the biggest downsides to all services like Menlo Club is returns. You can only exchange Menlo Club items for sizing reasons. If you don’t like the style, you can’t return it. It’s just the way it goes…

Menlo Club: What styles are you going to get?

While you can’t predict EXACTLY what kind of style you’re going to get, Menlo Club has a really good YouTube Channel (not something I say very often!) that gives you a preview of what you’re going to get the upcoming month.

For example, here’s the January 2021 preview:

You can also view the previous month’s clothes to get a better idea of what kind of products they have.

Menlo Club Review: The final verdict

Menlo Club is a great service for the right kind of guy. It’s not for everyone, and that’s OK – not every product or service is going to be perfect for everyone.

If you’re on the fence about Menlo Club, try it out using one of our Menlo Club Promo Codes and test it out for a month – you can try it for next to nothing and see if it’s right for you. Worst case scenario is you get some good clothes for a good price and don’t have to get them again.
